In 2017 several members of the Advanced Maintenance UK Ltd team faced to Tough Mudder challenge to raise money for Pancreatic Cancer Action with many friends of Big T who was bravely fighting Pancreatic cancer.
Whilst everyone here at Advanced Maintenance UK Ltd considers Big T and everyone involved to be part of the family, Big T's journey it is best told by a very close family friend Abbie Garrard;
In 2016, many lives were turned upside down when we were given the dreadful news that a good friend (Tony Witchalls/Big T) was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer.
Treatment started straight away, including chemotherapy, radiotherapy and many operations, but sadly after 2 years of fighting, Tony lost his battle to this terrible illness on the 12th July 2018.
A beloved husband, Dad, Grandad, Son, Brother, Uncle and Friend who is missed and loved by everyone that knew him. Gone but never forgotten, Tony was a hero to many of us and his legacy will remain.
Before Tonys diagnosis, many of us had not heard of Pancreatic Cancer, or the charity that supports the patients going through this terrible time. Once we had better knowledge of this terrible illness, we decided we wanted to do something to help raise awareness, as throughout his battle, Tony and his family received much support from Pancreatic Cancer Action, who comforted them through their very difficult time.
In May 2017 we got together a team of 17, to take on our first Tough Mudder Challenge and raised an amazing £5,772.60!!!
As expected, the challenge was very difficult- more difficult then imagined, however our perseverance and team spirit got us to the finish line, with smiles all around!
After losing Tony, and hearing of more sad diagnosis for other friends, we have decided to once again take on this difficult challenge, with an even bigger team, for donations to a wonderful charity, who focus on early diagnosis and survival.
We would like to thank Abbie for sharing Big T's journey, we at Advanced Maintenance UK Ltd we want to do all we can for the very brave family and friends
of Big T continue their journey to help Pancreatic Cancer Action.
Together with almost 40 family and friends of Big T, some of the AMUK team will be facing the Tough Mudder at Culden Faw, Henley-on-Thames on 4th May 2019.
Everyone involved would really appreciate it if our employees, customers, suppliers and friends of the company would help us raise as much money as we possibly can for Pancreatic Cancer Action by donating to the teams Justgiving Page.
We will keep this page updated with all the very latest progress of the team as they prepare of the challenges ahead, with 25 obstacles over an 8-10 mile distance.
