Social Value at Advanced Maintenance: Starting with Small, Lasting Steps

Social value can be difficult to define, especially in a sector where practical delivery, deadlines, and compliance often take centre stage. But at Advanced Maintenance UK Ltd, we’ve come to understand that social value isn’t about big gestures or box-ticking exercises. It’s about long-term impact, however small the beginning might seem.
2025 is our first formal year of recording and reporting social value. That doesn’t mean the work is new; it means we’re finally taking the time to recognise and prioritise it.
A Practical Approach to Community Impact
We’ve committed to £2,000 in value and 20 volunteer hours this year, and while those numbers might look modest on paper, they’re just the foundation. Our ethos is to deliver value that’s meaningful, local, and long-term, not headline-grabbing projects that disappear after a photo op.
We’re currently supporting two initiatives through Match My Project, a platform that connects housing and community needs with suppliers:
Project 1: Helping a vulnerable young mum take up a place on her local football team by covering joining and travel costs. A small gesture, but one that builds confidence, routine, and social support.
Project 2: Volunteer support for a furniture move in a local housing scheme — practical help where it’s needed, delivered discreetly and respectfully.
Until these two projects are complete, we won’t be taking on more. That’s part of our commitment: we don’t overpromise, and we don’t spread ourselves too thin. Once these are wrapped up, we’ll look for the next right opportunity — and we welcome suggestions from clients, colleagues, and community groups alike.
Our Social Value Commitments
We pay the Real Living Wage to all staff, regardless of age or role.
We’re enrolled on the Match My Project platform across A2Dominion, Sovereign, and Peabody.
We support client-driven initiatives wherever possible and are always open to ideas.
We report transparently in tender submissions and internal reviews, with a goal of improving each year.
What’s Next?
Social value is now embedded in our company strategy, not as a side project, but as a core part of who we are. As we grow our reach across sectors like housing, education, and care, we’ll continue looking for ways to give back to the communities we serve.
We’ll be sharing updates, reflections, and new commitments right here on our blog. If you're a client or community group with a project you'd like us to support, we’d love to hear from you.
