Sports Day 2025: Teamwork, Sunshine, and a Whole Lot of Water Balloons

At Advanced Maintenance UK Ltd, we know that our success doesn’t come from systems or tools; it comes from people. It comes from engineers who give their all on site, office staff who keep operations flowing, and the culture that brings us together as a team.

That’s why Sports Day has become more than just a bit of summer fun. It’s a tradition. A way to hit pause, reconnect, and remind ourselves that great teams aren’t just built through training and meetings, they’re built through shared experiences, laughter, and the occasional sack race.

A Bit of History

We held our first Sports Day back in 2022, followed by a wonderfully chaotic rainy-day version in 2024. In both years, the feedback was the same: “Can we do that again?”

So this year, we did, and Sports Day 2025 turned out to be the sunniest, splashiest, and possibly sweatiest one yet.

The Day Itself

The office closed early, the teams headed down to Theale, and the games began. Despite the heat, we managed two full rounds of rounders, a fiercely contested tug of war, a few spontaneous foosball moments, and more than one unexpected talent for football.

Oh, and then there was the water fight. Fully planned, and fully deserved. Cold water, laughter, and some very soggy trainers. In the moment, it was just a way to cool off, but it also became the highlight of the day for many.

More Than Just Fun

This event doesn’t happen by accident. It’s carefully planned by Abbie Parker, our Head of Operations, who also happens to be our Mental Health First Aider.

Her dual role speaks volumes about what this event really represents. Sports Day isn’t just about games, it’s about looking after our team. It’s about taking space away from the stress and noise of reactive work and creating an environment where people feel valued, seen, and connected.

We’ve always said we work best when we work together, and Sports Day is one of the many ways we live that belief.

What’s Next?

It’s easy to overlook the importance of moments like this, especially in fast-paced industries like ours. But at Advanced Maintenance, we’re committed to keeping them on the calendar, not just as light relief, but as a meaningful part of how we support our people and build stronger teams.

Here’s to brilliant people, occasionally ridiculous games, competitive rounders matches, and a team culture worth celebrating.

Same time next year? We’ll bring even more water balloons.
